Where to stay in Seminyak
Polished and central: designer boutiques, sunset beach clubs and Bali's best restaurant scene, all a short hop from the airport. An easy, comfortable first base.
Seminyak is the easiest first base in Bali, and its shape is simple. Jalan Kayu Aya, which everyone still calls Eat Street, holds the restaurants; Jalan Petitenget continues north past the larger hotels towards Batubelig; and the beach sits behind the beach clubs at the western end. Everything inside that triangle is walkable, which is rarer on this island than it sounds.
It suits people who want dinner, a spa and a sunset without organising transport, and couples who would rather spend the money on the room than the commute. It suits budget travellers less well, and anyone hoping for an empty beach should keep going north.
The beach shelves steeply and the current is real. The flagged sections are flagged for a reason, and the sunsets here are better than the swimming.
